An album of never-before-seen World War II photographs is sent to Rebecca Erbelding, the archivist at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The photos show the officers who ran Auschwitz, the deadliest concentration camp in human history. As Rebecca immerses herself in these images, a startling story emerges: how do you live an ordinary life next to an extermination camp? Soon, the images begin appearing on front pages of newspapers around the world.

In Germany, a businessman sees the photos online and recognizes his grandfather in one of them. This sends him on a journey of discovery that leads him to meet other descendants of Nazis and confront his family's past.

BLAUBEEREN” tells the story of these photographs, what they reveal about the Holocaust, and what they reveal about our humanity.
