"Pelotari" is a large-format light art and mapping installation created for the fourth edition of the Umbra Light Festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The piece pays homage to the quintessential Basque sport, capturing the essence of movement, impact, and the speed of the ball against stone, turning the pelota court into a living organism of light and geometry. It pays special tribute to women Pelotari players and the achievements of feminism in sport and its influence on society.
"Pelotari" was one of the most acclaimed pieces for its ability to connect with local identity through cutting-edge technological language and a dramaturgy that resonated with audiences of all ages. The installation transformed an everyday sporting venue into a temple of contemporary art, where tradition and innovation merged in a single stroke of light.
"Pelotari is not just light on a wall; it is the trace left by human effort upon the stone, captured and amplified by technology."
