The Creative Challenge: Oz in the Pixel Age
The goal was not simply to illustrate the yellow brick road, but to create a dynamic virtual set that responded to the energy of the text.
- Immersive Environments: Creation of digital worlds ranging from a monochromatic, analogue Kansas to a vibrant, saturated jungle inspired by classic painters such as Matisse.
- Transmedia Narrative: Integration of video as an element that interacts directly with the actors, enabling spatial transitions impossible to achieve with traditional physical scenography.
- Illustration Aesthetic: Actors inhabit storybook backdrops and interact with digital doubles of the characters, facilitating costume changes during the performance.
Scenic Result
Spin Oz succeeded in modernising the Dorothy myth, turning it into a high-impact visual experience. The video scenery did not merely decorate the space — it expanded the limits of the San Pol stage, demonstrating that classical theatre can speak the visual language of the 21st century.
